EDIBLE AUSTIN CHICKEN-AND-EGG HAIKU WINNERS

Congratulations to the winners of our first
Edible Austin Haiku Contest. Our blind judging was done by Edible Austin editor and poet Kim Lane. Because two of the haiku submitted by our first-place winner placed first and second, we were able to bestow our third-place award upon our fourth-place poet. Chicken art courtesy of Stephanie Hunter's private collection.

Why cross? What came first?
Such big questions you carry
Oh, little chicken.

Egg, essential whole
Like Humpty Dumpty you crack
Undone by breakfast.

Prize: Lunch for two at Cipollina

Eggs perfect in shape
Never seen a blue so rich
Hidden in the hay
