Edible Austin and Austin Museum of Art present
Now is the time to think about your fall garden. Gardening and permaculture teacher Dick Pierce shows how to turn home waste into compost to nourish fresh veggies."Feed Your Garden, Feed Yourself" Saturday, June 19, 2 p.m. A unique opportunity for gardeners, sustainability folks, the green team, the environmentally-minded, and their children, grandchildren, parents, grandparents and friends. Come and see nationally aclaimed photographer Chris Jordan's beautiful and powerful exhibit Running the Numbers, about the waste stream in America at the Austin Museum of Art at 9th and Congress from 10:00a.m.–6:00p.m. The art is beautiful - the message is clear - the next move is ours. Then at 2:00p.m., please join us for a fun, informative presentation by Dick Pierce: "Feed Your Garden, Feed Yourself" - An Introduction to Nature's Recycling (Compost), Re-use (Gardening), and Reduce (Local Food). We, individually and collectivelly, have the ability to fix the problem of "drowning in our own trash" that Chris Jordan so graphically portrays. Come and listen this Saturday and then work on a plan to be ready for your fall garden. For more information, go to amoa.org. |
