coverwinter2010Celebrating Home Cooks

It’s not hard to conjure up visions of warm, steamy kitchens full of mouth-watering aromas around the holidays. It’s a time that many of us take to focus on family and friends coming together around food. Bringing this sensibility to our daily workaday lives is more challenging.

To encourage and to celebrate home cooking and the home cook, we’re proud to launch a special edition that will publish annually called Edible Austin COOKS! Full of recipes, home entertaining and kitchen tips and stories that connect us to our sustainable foodie community here in Central Texas, COOKS! is available through the end of the year at locations where you will find our regular quarterly issues of Edible Austin. After that you may find it at the many festivals and special food events that we present or participate in all year long.

COOKS! is also available as a bonus for a limited time with gift subscriptions starting with our winter issue. Why subscribe, you might ask, when you can pick up our magazine for free? Aside from the convenience of having it delivered to your home, your subscription helps support many of the initiatives that we sponsor throughout the year, such as our fourth annual Edible Austin Eat Local Week, a celebration of the abundance of local food in Central Texas and a 100 percent fundraiser for Urban Roots. — Marla Camp, publisher

Corrections

We would like to correct a glaring omission in our masthead on page 6: Jude Diallo is our Edible Austin distribution manager and can be reached at jude@edibleaustin.com.

In our COOKS at Home feature on Chef Joel Welch, his name was misspelled in the article. Edible Austin deeply regrets this mistake.

In our COOKS at Home feature on Sarah Bird, we credited the wrong photographer. The photo of Sarah (at right) was taken by Duane Osborn of O STUDIO and he can be reached at duane@ophotostudio.com. Sarah Wilson, the photographer mistakenly credited for this photo, has taken many wonderful photos of Bird as well.
