14th Annual Becker Vineyards Grape Stomp (10:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
14th Annual Becker Vineyards Grape Stomp
August 28, 29 and Sept. 4, 5 Saturday, 10 am–6 pm and Sunday, noon–6 pm.
Participants are welcome to bring a picnic and put a picnic blanket under the trees at this family-friendly event. Fired Up will have hand made pizzas cooked in their wood oven for sale. Becker Vineyards will also have artisan cheeses and crackers for sale in the Tasting Room.
Becker Vineyards is located 11 miles east of Fredericksburg, and 3 miles west of Stonewall, off US Hwy 290 at Jenschke Lane. The event is complimentary; no reservations required.

Citizen Gardener's 2010 Fall Gardening Courses (New Class Begins September 11!)
What is Citizen Gardener:Citizen Gardener is program that began in August of 2008, designed to engage more Austin area residents in growing food locally. How it works: The interested student signs up for one of our 3-class sessions totaling ten hours of gardening course work. This training comes from a seasoned educator or master gardener who provides a foundation for the new student to give ten hours of volunteer/apprentice work to a Partner Garden. Upon completion of the hours, the student is not only awarded the distinction of being a "Citizen Gardener", but has the skills to create their own garden. The Reward: This process returns a cycle of gifting to the planet and others... a reciprocating, blooming and fruitful gift. Cost: $30 due on the first day of class (cash or check made out to "Sustainable Food Center"). $10 dollars will be refunded if you complete 10 volunteer hours at one of our partner gardens. The Austin Organic Gardeners Club Meeting will be Monday, September 13th from 7–9 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Dick Peterson on rainwater collection systems and he will be doing a on Build-A-Barrel Workshop on rainwater collection. He is a consultant on rainwater and landscape projects as well as being involved in residential green construction and remodeling. Sampling of the new oil will be available throughout the day.
