THE FARMERS MARKET at FLAMINGO CORNER
GRAND OPENING on Thursday, March 4, 2010, 3–7p.m. LOCATED at the Northeast Corner of Bee Caves Road and Hwy. 360, in front of Pots & Plants Nursery. The Market will be open every Thursday year round, “rain or shine.” Our goal is to offer “Texas Local” fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese, eggs, meat and seafood. We’ll have fresh flowers, herbs, honey, and a variety of specialty prepared food items. All items will be grown or produced by the vendors who sell them. Our farmers believe in sustainable farming and humane ranching practices which we think results in better tasting produce, and lean grass-fed animals raised without antibiotics or hormones. We plan to give back to the community too, by offering internships for Agriculture students – pairing them up with farmers and then offering them booth space to sell the produce they raise in order to gain business experience. And don’t forget to look for the Capital Area Food Bank to be at the Market as well. As the seasons change, we’ll be offering family-friendly activities. We’ll have an Easter Egg Hunt in April, watermelon eating contests in summer, pumpkin carving for autumn, and sooner than you know, Santa will be at our Market too. REMEMBER: Look for the pink flamingos in front of the Market! Call Amy Ingram, Market Manager at 512-440-7196 for more information |
