EAT LOCAL WEEK 2009 RAISES $35K
Every week is “eat local week” in our book, but Edible Austin’s Eat Local Week, our annual winter fundraising event, is an invitation to Central Texans to explore and celebrate the abundance of local food and to raise money for Urban Roots, a youth development program that uses sustainable agriculture as a means to transform the lives of young people and to increase access to healthy food in Austin. In this, our third year, we raised $35,000 for Urban Roots from generous donations from our participating markets and restaurants (listed below) and from the many special events hosted around town. Rentals, Mulberry, Owl Tree Roasting, Palm Door, Paramount Theatre, Paula’s Texas Spirits, Pink Avocado, Sustainable Food Center, Tipsy Texan, Wally Workman Gallery, Whip In Parlour Café and Market, Whole Foods Market and Zhi Tea.
