Discover Austin's local food-producing gems on a family-friendly bicycle tour on Saturday, December 1, including 20 optional stops at Austin's urban farms, community gardens and farmers markets—featuring farm tours, a wonderful array of chef-prepared snacks, local food products and a chance to win fabulous prizes!

This past weekend Central Texas lost an amazing farmer and advocate for local food. Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.
Sarah Elizabeth Green Rowland 1958-2012
Sarah Elizabeth Green Rowland, 53, of Burnet, Texas, passed away August 24, 2012 after a courageous four-year battle with breast cancer. She was born November 12, 1958 in Montreal, Quebec, to Elizabeth and Anthony Green and graduated from Sir Robert Borden High School in Ottawa, Ontario in 1976.
She attended Christie Secretarial College in Cheltenham, England, before moving to Bermuda, where she worked as a legal secretary specializing in trademarks for Smith, Barnard & Diel Barristers and Attorneys in Hamilton, Bermuda.

Edible Austin took home two Eddy Awards this year at the 2012 Edible Communities Publishers Conference:
- BEST COVER, photography by Knoxy, Fall 2011
- BEST ELECTRONIC FEATURE for our video content accompanying our story on Valerie Broussard, forager for the W Austin, story and video by Terrence Henry, Fall 2011.
Edible Austin also was recognized as a finalist in five categories:
