Oyster Club 2010 Season Kick-off Event (4:00 PM)
Oyster Club 2010 Season Kick-off event September 19
Meeting once in every month whose name contains an "r" (September-April), the Oyster Club is a new way to find pearls of art, architecture, music, film, food, and performance in the oceans of culture in Austin and Central Texas. The Oyster Club's kick-off event (nine events in 2010 season) is September 19. This is the third year for Edible Austin to sponsor the Rude Mechanicals Theater Company’s Oyster Club (a members-only group of cultural arts supporters who explore the cross-pollination of art, architecture, music, film, food and performance in a series of nine events throughout the year.) In addition to organizing the kick-off Oyster Feast event at the Plant at Kyle (celebrating fresh seafood from the Gulf), Edible Austin showcases local food and beverage artisans at each of the events (themed appropriately) throughout the season, which not only exposes many local food and drink makers to an adventurous audience but also elevates local food to an art form! The 2009 Season Oyster Club raised approximately $20,000 for the theater group. Events vary in size from 50 people to 150 people.
