Austin Musuem of Art and Edible Austin present
A Taste of Tradition Join us for sampling of Southern food traditions, inspired by American Letterpress: The Art of Hatch Show Print exhibition. Discussion led by Elizabeth Engelhardt, Southern food scholar and Associate Professor of American Studies at UT Austin, Toni Tipton-Martin, journalist, blogger, cookbook author and founder of nonprofit cooking school and event space, and Chef Jack Gilmore, proprietor of Jack Allen's Kitchen and the event's featured chef. Moonshine cocktails by Tipsy Texan David Alan, Saint Arnold's beer and a sweet tea by Zhi Tea will aslo be served. We will be collecting your recipes for the Sustainable Food Center's cookbook too! Check the AMOA website for instructions on how to submit your favorite traditional Southern recipe updated to use local, sustainable ingredients. You will also have an opportunity to view the exhibition, and meet Edible Communities founders Tracy Ryder and Carole Topalian, who will be signing and selling thier new book, Edible: a Celebration of Local Foods.
