Rainwater Revival
October 9, 2010,10 am to 5 pm Roger Hanks Park, Dripping Springs To celebrate the timeless conservation practice of rainwater collection, professionals and enthusiasts will converge just outside of Austin in Dripping Springs, Texas on Saturday, October 9, 2010 for the Rainwater Revival. The festive day will be filled with informative and entertaining presentations by professionals and users of rainwater, conservation-related business vendor booths, rainwater system displays, and plenty of experts to provide guidance and services. There will also be food and drink booths, live music, and more. Among the speakers will be eco-friendly homebuilders, rainwater collection installation experts,and other green experts including Marianne Simmons, owner of Onion Creek Farm, a producer of certified organic vegetables and herbs. Before Onion Creek Farm, Simmons was the produce manager for the first Whole Foods and produce coordinator for their first 3 stores before she was transferred to Los Angeles to help run an organic produce distribution house. After working for a national organic produce distribution house and a specialty-market farm in Carpinteria, California, she returned to Texas. She has served on the boards of Venice-Ocean Park Co-op, Organic Certification Committee, California Certified Organic Farmers, Eco-Fair Texas, Organic Farming Research Foundation, Organic Certification Committee and is currently the founder and president of the Dripping Springs Farmers Market Association.
