About Us

Edible Austin wants to connect you to your local food community! We are an independently owned, community-based bi-monthly publication and a member of Edible Communities publications. Our mission is to celebrate the seasonal food culture of Central Texas.

We celebrate local, sustainable and seasonal culinary traditions and innovations.

Through our publication, e-newsletters, website and events, we work to connect you with local growers, retailers, chefs and food artisans—enabling those relationships to grow our healthy and vibrant local food economy. Edible Austin is available at selected distribution locations or can be delivered to your door by subscription for $30 a year. Subscriptions ensure that you will never miss an issue and also make great gifts!

Edible Austin also supports and produces many community-building events and festivals throughout the year, which we list on our calendar and promote with our e-newsletter.

Edible Austin is for people who are interested in:

  • Eating and growing seasonal foods
  • Learning about the stories behind the people who grow, produce, cook, sell or serve local and seasonal foods
  • Discovering all about great dining, day trips, distillers, breweries, wineries, food events and festivals in Central Texas

Our Team:

Publisher Jenna Noel Northcutt is a 2005 University of Texas graduate with a BS degree in Advertising and a minor in Business; and a Texas Creative Program graduate. She also works for Impact Productions as Creative Director. Her advertising accolades include: Austin ADDYS 2006 Gold ADDY and Special Judges Award, 2007 Silver ADDY and 2006 Silver District ADDY. Jenna was one of the original members of Edible Austin's launch team in 2007 and has been contributing her creative energy and indefatigable pursuit of excellence since that date.

Editor Kim Lane is a writer and editor whose work has appeared in Mothering magazine, SalonPregnancy magazine and Green Prints, and in books such as Salon’s anthology Life as We Know It (Washington Square Press) and more. She is founder of the multi-award winning website, AustinMama.com, and an occasional contributor to NPR's All Things Considered, where one of her commentaries once garnered more listener hate mail than the producer had ever seen. Lane lives with her family and an ark’s-worth of animals in the wildflower and fire ant covered hills outside Austin.

Associate Publisher

Dawn began her publication-centric career in 2003 while attending Southern Illinois University, after which she moved to Kansas City to work with the alt weekly The Pitch. In 2013, she join Edible Austin's team as Event Coordinator and Advertising Director, and recently moved into the role of Associate Publisher, where she continues to connect Austinites to our local food scene.
You can find Dawn regularly at the Farmers' Markets, running the Town Lake trail or sipping on some rosé by the pool. The most enjoyable part of her job is getting to build and educate our community, and getting to know all of the unique and vibrant folks who make Austin the special place it is. She also loves grilling at home, or heading out on the town for some brisket and tacos—or even better, brisket tacos!

Digital Content Manager

Darby Kendall is a food and drink fanatic who recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's in Journalism. As Edible Austin’s Digital Content Manager, she does a smörgåsbord of tasks for the magazine, including social media management, online content creation and her personal favorite, the photography and subsequent eating of dishes around Austin.
