Campfire Candied Sourdough with Fresh Fruit

Category:

From Elizabeth Winslow—We love shopping local farmers markets for sweet, juicy fruit in season. If you luck out and stumble upon ripe, fragrant peaches, plums or berries, here's a campfire dessert recipe that puts toasted marshmallows to shame.

Super easy

Campfire Candied Sourdough with Fresh Fruit

Ingredients

For 1 Serving(s)

Cream

  • 1 Slice Rustic Sourdough Bread per Person
  • 1 tablespoons Butter per Person
  • 1 tablespoons Honey per Person
  • Fresh Seasonal Fruit (Berries and Stone fruits are my favorite)
  • Creme Fraiche

Campfire Candied Sourdough with Fresh Fruit Directions

  1. Heat a heavy skillet over medium hot coals.
  2. Swirl in about 1 T. of butter per slice of bread.
  3. When the butter foams, drizzle in an equal amount of honey.
  4. Stir together, then place bread slices in the butter-honey mixture.
  5. Let the bread toast briefly, then flip slices and cook the other side.
  6. Remove bread to plates and place fruit in the warm skillet.
  7. When fruit is just warm and beginning to release its juices, spoon over bread slices.
  8. Top each serving with a dollop of creme fraiche and serve.
