This artfully prepared yet simple dish is what Amy Nylund brought Lanell Coultas after Coultas’ son Hank was born. And it was one of her favorite food deliveries. “Every time I would open my fridge, I would see that platter, and I would just take one. It was beyond tasty and beautiful. You could taste the love—that each thing had been hand-dipped—and it felt like a hug from Amy every time I grabbed one.”

Amy’s “Feel the Love”  Chocolate-Dipped Fruit and Nuts

Ingredients

For 1 Batch(es)

Recipe:

  • 16 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons non-hydrogenated vegetable shortening
  • Assortment of fresh and dried fruit pieces (such as fresh strawberries, dried mango, dried pineapple, fresh apple slices, fresh grapes, dried apricot, etc.)
  • Assortment of raw or roasted nuts (cashews, almonds, pecans, etc.)

Amy’s “Feel the Love” Chocolate-Dipped Fruit and Nuts Directions

  1. Using a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips and shortening, stirring until smooth.
  2. Prepare a large platter covered with parchment paper or wax paper.
  3. Dip the fruit pieces into the melted chocolate and then lay on the parchment or wax paper. Arrange clumps of nuts on the paper, then spoon the melted chocolate on top of them.
  4. When the platter is full, place it in the refrigerator for the chocolate to harden.
