Held October 3 at The Allan House, the event gives guests the opportunity to bid on exclusive dining packages with notable Austin chefs. With small bites prepared by the chefs, refreshing libations, as well as a fantastic silent auction, you’ll leave happy even if you don’t place the highest bid (though we’d love it if you did).

THE EVENT: Thursday, October 3

On Thursday, October 3, enjoy hors d’oeuvres prepared by Auction Chefs, at the historic Allan House (1104 San Antonio St.) from 6–10 p.m.  Celebrity auctioneer Walt Roberts and emcee Kelly Stocker will take the stage to encourage guests to get their paddles up and stake their claim on the chef of their dreams. After the live auction, guests can enjoy live music under the historic Allan House trees and more.

Silent Auction: 

Enjoy the chance to bid on unique experiences and items from local companies including: Lick Honest Ice Creams, Tillie's, Antonelli's Cheese Shop, Wine & Swine Barbecue Event, William Chris VineyardsTexas Fine Wine Tasting and Stonewall Motor Lodge.

Barrett Black: Black's BBQ

Live Auction Package:
Treat yourself and 19 guests to a backyard barbecue at your own home, featuring Lockhart's iconic brisket! Before y'all chow down at the cookout, Chef Barrett Black will lead a brisket class, with a demonstration on how to prepare a brisket, from purchasing to slicing, and everything in between. Then enjoy the grilled goodness and a meaty dessert — this package is one for the ultimate fan of Texas cookouts.

About the Chef: The Black family has been actively serving up barbecue for over three generations, originally making a name for themselves at the Black's BBQ family-owned restaurant in Lockhart, Texas. Barrett Black, a fourth-generation member of the family, now runs the business, carrying on the family's legacy of making delicious barbecue.

About the Chef: Tyson Cole is a passionate student of the Japanese tradi­tion. He has trained for more than 10 years in Tokyo, New York, and Austin, under two different sushi masters. He continues his path of study and exper­i­men­ta­tion at Uchi, devel­oping unprece­dented, multi-cultural combi­na­tions using his impec­cable knowl­edge of tech­nique.

Todd Duplechan & Jessica Maher: Vixen's Wedding & ARRIVE East Austin

You and 14 of your closest friends and family are invited to the Gin Bar at the ARRIVE East Austin for an evening of food and cocktails. Enjoy dishes from Vixen’s Wedding and partake in a private gin tasting and cocktail making class where you can choose from 60+ gins from around the globe, spanning from Argentina to New Zealand.

About the Chefs: Todd and Jessica met in New York City in 2003 while working towards a future in the restaurant business. They shared a commitment to sourcing sustainable local foods from quality producers and using those ingredients to make seriously tasty food. They opened Lenoir together in 2012, and recently opened Vixen's Wedding, serving food inspired by Goa, India and Portugal, using local ingredients from our beautiful state of Texas

Bryce Gilmore: Barley Swine

Grab several of your closest friends and family for a collaborative custom multi-course menu served at farm-to-table restaurant Barley Swine. The private, interactive dinner for 10 with Chef Bryce Gilmore will also feature beverage pairings.

About the Chef: Barley Swine originates from humble beginnings: a farm-to-trailer food truck called Odd Duck that gained such a dedicated following, Gilmore was driven to open a restaurant. Since opening in 2010, tables at Barley Swine have become a hot commodity and guests frequently rave about the curated menu of locally sourced small plates and craft beers. The restaurant encourages sharing dishes with loved ones and has created an ambiance that fosters a sense community and friendship.

Savor a group dinner every guest will remember in the comfort of your own home. Chef Erind Halilaj will prepare a multi-course dinner with wine pairings for 10, centered around the restaurant’s impressive Italian fare.

About the Chef: As a result of being raised in Italy, Chef Erind Halilaj has a deep passion for good food and the dining experience. His goal with Il Brutto is to bring authentic Italian cuisine to Austin. Il Brutto's menu represents the cuisine of Italy as a whole, from Mediterranean flavors of the south, to central lamb dishes, and beef tenderloin from the north. His dishes are respectful of tradition, and that starts with fresh ingredients and classic techniques.

Grae Nonas: Carpenters Hall

Relax in Downtown Austin for a fantastic couple of days with this package. Whether you're a tourist or a staycationer, you're sure to enjoy the two-night stay at the Carpenter Hotel, plus the multi-course dinner for four in Carpenters Hall prepared by Chef Nonas, with wine pairings included!

About the Chef: A New Jersey native, Chef Grae Nonas is a CIA graduate and spent his early career cooking in renowned kitchens on the East and West coasts. He first arrived in Austin in 2013 as co-founder and co-executive chef of Olamaie. Nonas became the executive chef of Carpenters Hall at The Carpenter Hotel in 2017. Carpenters Hall is an all-day restaurant that celebrates the many cultures and food traditions that have influenced Austin and Texas cuisine.

About the Chef: Born in the heart of the wine region of Penedes in Spain and with more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant business, Chef Daniel Olivella brings authentic Spanish flavors to his establishments in the Bay Area and Austin.

Callie Speer: Holy Roller

Live Auction Package:
Bring home one of Austin's premiere pastry chefs turned savory! Chef Callie Speer will visit your home and serve 20 guests a full brunch spread. This Sinners' Brunch will be done in a classic punk rock Holy Roller fashion, so you're sure to be entertained as you and your guests eat some of the best brunch food around.

About the Chef: Acclaimed Chef Callie Speer opened Holy Roller, her all-day diner, in downtown Austin in July of 2017. Creating a place where she, herself, would want to hang out, the space incorporates the spirit of punk rock with a hint of religious kitsch. This pretension-free restaurant is also the first venue for her to express the savory side of her considerable culinary talents and provides an avenue for all of her “little weird ideas” to come alive in once place.

Ian Thurwachter & Krystal Craig: Intero

10 lucky folks will enjoy a five-course contemporary Italian dinner at the winning bidder's home, prepared by Chef Ian Thurwachter. The meal will feature a customized menu including seasonal, local produce and ingredients, along with a delicious chocolate dessert course prepared by Chocolatier Krystal Craig.

About the Chefs: Born and raised in Austin, husband and wife duo, Chef Ian Thurwachter & Chocolatier Krystal Craig sought to share their love of Italian cuisine and their combined knowledge of savory and sweet. Both self-taught in their professions, each attributes the inspiration of their work to influences they had growing up. Bringing together over 35 years of collective experience in the food and restaurant industry, along with the talents of many friends and family, the couple opened Intero together in 2018.

Nicholas Yanes: Juniper

Live Auction Package:
We invite you and seven of your friends, foes, or family to join us in the kitchen of Juniper for a cooking, eating and wine tasting extravaganza. Juniper’s auction package will start with a hands-on ravioli and pasta making demo with Chef Nic. During the demo, you’ll enjoy cheeses, meats and light snacks. The pasta demo will be followed by a classic Italian wine class while the chefs prepare a special five-course family-style dinner. The evening will end with a course on amaro and grappa from Northern Italy.

About the Chef: Chef Nicholas Yanes earned his Associates of Culinary Arts degree at the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, OR. His recent experience as creative director at Uchi in Austin and his time spent in Northern Italy helped pave the way to his latest concept, Juniper. Juniper’s menu combines premier ingredients and old world technique to create comforting, yet inventive classic cuisine that connects the northern regions of Italy as well as other adjoining areas with Central Texas.

The CAUSE

Profits from the Edible Austin Chef Auction are donated to two nonprofits that greatly impact the Central Texas food community by providing access to healthy food and food education. 

SFCwebSustainable Food Center
The Sustainable Food Center strives to cultivate a healthy community by strengthening the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable food. Their programs include the SFC Farmers' Markets (Downtown and Sunset Valley), Grow Local (empowering children and adults to grow their own food by offering education and resources), Farm Direct (connecting local growers with schools, urban residents and institutional food service operations) and The Happy Kitchen/La Cocina Alegre (offering nutritional education programs to Austinites that nurture skills in food selection and preparation).

Urban Roots uses food and farming to transform the lives of young people and inspire, engage, and nourish the community. They provide paid internships to Austin youth between the ages of 14 and 17 to work on their 3.5 acre urban sustainable farm in East Austin. The program allows youth interns a stable, supportive work environment along with a variety of workshops on sustainable agriculture, healthy lifestyles, life and job skills and food justice issues. The Urban Roots farm donates 40% of their harvest to local soup kitchens and food pantries.
