The proper way to make iced coffee is to brew it cold. What's left is rich and mellow and low in acid— store it in the fridge where it's available any time you need a pick-me-up.

Easy

Cold-brewed Iced Coffee

Ingredients

For 1 Person(s)

Recipe

  • 1/2 pounds coarse-ground coffee
  • 4 cups cold water

Cold-brewed Iced Coffee Directions

  1. In a covered jar or French press carafe, cover ground coffee with cold water. Give a stir to make sure all grounds are soaked. Let stand, unrefrigerated, for 12–18 hours.
  2. Strain out coffee grounds through a fine strainer or, if using a French press, press the coffee as you would when making hot coffee. The remaining liquid is a rich coffee concentrate with the same approximate strength as espresso.
  3. Dilute with water for iced coffee, or for a cold-brewed latte, mix concentrate with cold milk.
